FAQ:

Q: What is a Virtual Professional?

A:  A common definition is that a
Virtual Professional (VP) is someone
who provides administrative and/or personal support to another person or business in long-term and collaborative relationships but without being
physically present in the client's
location.

Q: What is the difference between a

VP and a home-based secretary?

A: The difference is in the scale and scope of the relationship.

The Virtual Professional:

-- works in a relationship. That

relationship is ongoing, with the partners working together as frequently as is

needed to accomplish the tasks at hand. Because of the nature of this relationship,

a VP can only work with a relatively

small number of clients.

-- becomes the right hand of the client, getting to know the client, the client's business, the client's customers, the clients's life. The VP becomes, quite literally, a partner in the client's success.

-- does secretarial work, but as partner.

The VP often does much more. The

working relationship often crosses over

into supporting the client in personal matters as well as professional.

-- creates value for the clients through a

dynamic learning process - the more the

VP learns about the client, the client's business, customers and life, the more

the VP is able to support the client,

and the more value the VP creates.

The Home-based Secretary:

-- does piece work. A home-based

secretary can have many different clients because a client might need assistance

only once or twice each year. There is no ongoing partnership.

-- doesn't usually get to know a client's

business well because there is no need.

A level of trust does not develop because only task-oriented work is given to them.

-- provides a value which is commodity based through a select set of secretarial services offered.

Q: Why should I consider using a VP?

A: Delegating work that doesn't need your

personal attention gives back time and

space for an abundance of other things,

    which may include:

  • Growing your business

  • Doing only the work you love

  • Spending more time with family and friends

  • Seeking new business opportunities

  • Taking advantage of known opportunities

  • Living a more balanced life

Q: What will I need to be concerned

about when I hire a VP?

A: Let me tell you what you will NOT

    need to be concerned with:

  • Sharing space in a home-office, or finding additional office space for an employee

  • Buying additional equipment

  • Dealing with the managing of an employee

  • Paying the associated payroll taxes, insurance,
    and employee benefits

  • Adhering to Federal and State mandates, like OSHA, the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act

  • Paying someone to administer all of the above

What you will do is interact with another

business owner (your VP!!) who is more

than just task oriented. You will be

working with someone who wants to help

you find solutions to your business

    challenges.
